Pemba can organize anything. I ve spent three weeks in the Solu Khumbu with him, been on numerous trips in the Kathmandu valley, to the Borderlands and Bhutan. I know his mother, sisters and brother. I can recommend him more highly. |

I first trekked with Pemba in the Solu Khumbu in 1997. It was one of the most amazing 16 days I have ever spent. I was in my mid fifities at the time and have never been not particularly athletic. Pemba supported my efforts, slow as they were with kindness and enthusiasm, and never made me feel concerned about my inability to keep up with my 25-year-old son. Pembas engaging personality and big heart endeared him to me and my family instantly and over the last 8 years we have become more than friends. I come to Nepal frequently and I both call and think of Pemba as my Nepali son (chora). Since that first trek I have made many shorter trips with Pemba and he has arranged accommodations for me both in and out of the Kathmandu Valley. I look forward to trekking with him to his village, Hungung in the near future. Pemba has taught me so much about Nepali culture, Bhuddism and the Bon religion and living life to its fullest with few resources. I have always felt completely safe when traveling with Pemba and he was so kind and resourceful when I broke my ankle (a simple misstep in the Annapurna area) and had to be taken out by helicopter. I would trust Pemba with my life and recommend him to you with enormous enthusiasm. He will not only be your competent guide he will become a treasured friend. |

In the spring of 1995 Pemba lead our group of four on a month-long teahouse trek through the Khumbu. Starting from Jiri, we went to Gokyo, Kala Pattar, and Chukkugn. Pemba was an enthusiastic, conscientious, reliable, helpful and knowledgeable guide. In addition to orienting us to the spectacular mountains and their names, he pointed out wildlife, taught us some Nepali, shared his perspectives on Nepali culture, and kept us laughing. He was safety conscious and always make sure that the last one in the group (usually me!) was doing ok. I felt I was in good hands and had a great time. I would recommend Pemba as a trekking guide without any reservation. |

| Pemba has a warm smile and a kind heart that is apparent to anyone who meets him. Not only Pemba is extremely conscientious and reliable, but he gives 200% to ensure that people enjoy their treks with him. He also has a good sense of humour and is happy to teach Nepali phrases and teach about Nepali culture. Pemba was the guide for a study-abroad program during my graduate school training and he effortlessly showed us the sites in Kathmandu as well as taking us trekking in Annapurnas. When I go back to Nepal, I will definitely ask Pemba to be my guide again and I look forward seeing his beautiful, contagious smile. |

I have traveled with Pemba in Nepal twice, and I can't imagine going to Nepal without him as my guide. Pemba seems to know everything and everyone, and will do anything to make your trip as perfect as possible. During my time in Nepal, Pemba organized every detail to make sure that my group could do and see everything we wanted. Thanks to Pemba, both of my trips to Nepal were life-changing experiences. I would put my life in Pemba's hands, and would never set foot in Nepal without him. |

We met Pemba on our journey in Ladakh, India, 2004. He was a wonderful guide and cook on the Markha Valley Trek. Pemba told us about the environment and typical habits of Indian and Nepalese people. He is honest, responsible and trustworthy.
We had a good time and lots of fun together. We can also recommend you the Annapurna-circuit in Nepal!

Pemba is an amazing individual, both as a guide and as a person. He
saw to every aspect of our comfort and our wishes when traveling with
him in Nepal. Even politics does not deter him in his wish to have
his clients experience his country! When a strike occurred on a day
we were meant to be visiting sights around Kathmandu, he found us
bicycles for us to tour on so that we wouldn't miss a day of
adventure in our short time in Nepal. This merely added to the
flavor of being in Nepal and experiencing the culture. We felt
completely taken care of by Pembe and safe throughout our journeys.
We each had different levels of fitness and he ensured our individual
needs were met. His bright and enthusiastic manner is contagious and
it was a pleasure and an honor to meet a guide who has become a friend.

PEMBA JEBA BHOTE – my friend and guide I had always wanted to go to Nepal to see the big mountains. Being in the field of Outdoor Education I was drawn to the allure of Mt. Everest, going to the Base Camp, seeing the infamous icefall and the Khumbu glacier and being immersed in the Nepalese and Tibetan culture. I was granted a sabbatical leave in 1998 to trek in the Khumbu region and investigate the environmental degradation of the more popular trekking routes, including Mt. Everest Base camp. I was given Pemba’s name from a colleague who had trekked in Nepal the previous year with Pemba. After months of communicating via FAX and phone, Pemba met me at the Kathmandu airport with a twinkle in his eye and a huge smile on his face. Immediately I felt welcomed and safe. Pemba had arranged everything – hotel stay while in Kathmandu, tour of Kathmandu, flights to and from the Khumbu region, food and lodging at all of the tea houses in the Khumbu area and the Annapurna region, and even a 7-day tour in Tibet. I had such a tremendous experience, that the following year I brought a group of 10 students from a university in United States to trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp. He was an amazing guide. He is the person that makes me want to return to Nepal, again and again. He is very safety conscious and has the skills and judgment to undertake all sorts of situations with many kinds of people. His many years of guiding experience shows in his caring disposition, knowledge of people and the environment, his delightful sense of humor and ease in communication. I have every confidence in Pemba, both in disposition and skills, and would, without hesitation, recommend him as an exceptional guide. I look forward to having him guide for me again. In 2003 I met Pemba during a holiday in Nepal . A friend of mine who lives in Kathmandu has invited me to come to Nepal . But I’m sitting in a Wheelchair, I needed someone who could
carry me sometimes and showed my the country. So there was Pemba : he brought me to places where I couldn’t come with my wheelchair.
Pemba is a real nice person with a golden heart. He showed me the most beautiful places of the country.
Nepal is a country full of culture and beautiful nature. Without the help of Pemba I never had seen all these things

The Nepal trip back in Sep/Oct 2005 was my first real trekking trip. So I could
not ask for a better guide than Pemba. He knows the trek very well, he knows how
to deal with the people, he knows how to choose a comfy accommodation with good
food (important after a long tiring day), and I know for certain how he has slowed
down his walk just so that we can keep up with him. In short, Pemba takes good
care of his guests. I look forward to my next trip with him. He guides with his
heart. The mountains are his home. And he welcomed us there, warmly. For more
stories and pictures on the trip, Visit: http://pilgrimnepaltibet.blogspot.com/.
Cheers, Eva Muchtar.

My journey to Nepal in September 2005 was an amazing one that I will never forget. 'Papa' Pemba , as me and my friends refer to him after few days of travel with him, was big part of the reason. We started our journey with him with rafting on Trisuli River , trekking in Annapurna region, started from Beni to Jomsom, and then flew to Pokhara and Kathmandu .
Pemba is not just a travel-guide. He's a great travel-companion. He showed us how to really make the best of our journey: accommodation, food, and safety wise. He knows the Annapurna track really well and we didn't just walk with him. We stopped by at interesting places (such as a little Tibetan village), met and talked with the local people, and he smiled with us when we wanted to just stand still and absorb the beauty of Nepal .
In short, Pemba is a very responsible person and really knows how to lead and taking care of the group (reminded us of our dear papa ). I had no complained at all.
If I have a chance to go back to Nepal , I would definitely ask Pemba for his professional service; to show me more of Nepal , more than just what¢s written in all those travel books.

Last year, 2007, I had the pleasure of visiting Nepal on a trekking tour with my friends for 17 days in the Khumbu Region. Pemba was an excellent guide, a great organizer, and a fantastic person to be shown around by. The trekking tour was fantastic in equal measure due to the scenery and pemba’s personality and organization skills as a guide; and would like to return to Nepal again, with Pemba as my guide. |

This was my first, and not my last, trip to Nepal. I was welcomed by Pemba and Nima on my first day and brought touring around Kathmandu for the entire day. I can't say enough about how well I was taken care of during my 17 day trip to Nepal. Nima (sherpa) and Kanchokpa (porter) were kind and patient and helped me reach my goal of getting as close to Everest as I had ever been and were with me every challenging step of the way in seeing incredible sights and climbing three 5000m peaks in 3 days! They took care of every detail of my stay while I was there including sending my lost luggage over to me which Kenchokpa walked back to get. Nima was a great source of information about the country, the mountains, the expeditions, the history, the people and the politics. I learned so much from him during the trip and had many laughs as well. They became great frie nds to me. Upon our return to Kathmandu I was again whisked off for more sights around Kathmandu and was fortunate to have lunch with them and meet their families. It was a treasure. We made quite a team and I miss them!
