Damodar Kund is a pilgrimage trekking where many Hindus from round the world are dreaming to take a holy bath at least once in their life time in the sacred Damodar-Kund, situated in rain shadow are of High Himalayas north of Annapurna range at the altitude of 4890 meters lap of high Himalayas in Upper Mustang on the north east of Mustang District.
Damodar Kund is a famous trekking in Nepal but it is bit cold and windy place. We will recommend to you visit during the full moon of August every year, because every year there is a big festival up there many pilgrimages Hindu and Buddhist visit full moon of August. Usually, you can visit April to September every year. Festival time will be great for visit Damodar Kund. From Damodar Kund, the views are great from some viewpoints a bit higher than the lakes, just a short climb up some of the hills. Damodar Kund trekking trail surrounding by Tibetan plateau & Damodar Himal. The Damodar lakes are located three days walk north east of the main Mustang trekking route & very close to Tibetan border. Damodar Kunda lies on restricted upper mustang between Kagbeni and Muktinath.
There are two versions of the origin of the Kali Gandaki River; the river comes from a lake near the Tibetan border by the name of Damodar-kund north east of Muktinath.
Damodar Kund trek and Upper Mustang treks are beginning from Jomsom (30 minutes flight from Pokhara) or you can begin treks from access road Beni or Nayapul.
Mustang trekking there are normal teahouse but Damodar Kund you should be go though tented/Camping arrangement because there are still not making any teahouse facilities in this area.
The Mustang trekking is possible to do whole year round and Damodar Kund Trekking require special permit to trek in this area as well as you have to obtain Annapurna Conservation area project (Acap) entry permit but you don't need to have Tims Card (Trekkers' Information Management System).
